Cobalt-Chromium Porcelain Crown

A cobalt-chromium porcelain crown is a type of metal-ceramic restoration with an internal framework made from a cobalt-chromium alloy, also known as a Co-Cr alloy. The metal framework is covered with multiple layers of aesthetic porcelain to create a tooth shape and shade that closely resemble natural teeth.

This type of crown is used in restorative dentistry because of its good durability, stable load-bearing capacity, and reasonable cost. Compared with certain conventional metal-ceramic crowns, cobalt-chromium porcelain crowns offer advantages in biocompatibility and resistance to oxidation. They are also nickel-free, which may help reduce the risk of irritation in some patients who are sensitive to metal.
